Well week 7 was easily my worst week I've had in Draftkings and the first time that I finished outside of the money in the million dollar contest. However this week I think I've got the solution and can turn it around.
QB: Phillip Rivers, Chargers $6,600
The Chargers just throw the ball all over the field, with Rivers having thrown the ball more than 50 times in the last two weeks and over 45 times in the last three weeks. That gives Rivers a ton of opportunities to run up some serious yards and touchdowns. Rivers has responded in kind with at least 24 points in each of the last four weeks and more than 30 points in the last two weeks. This week again Rivers might be without his favorite target in Antonio Gates, but Keenan Allen and Ladarius Green have proven more than capable of fulfilling the role for Rivers. This week the Chargers face an extremely weak Ravens defense, and one that ranks 32nd in points to quarterbacks. With Melvin Gordon still hobbled by injury expect Rivers to put up some big numbers against the Ravens.
RB: Todd Gurley, Rams $6,300
Jeff Fisher loves to run the football, and loves having a dynamic running back and he's got one in Todd Gurley. Gurley has been just a beast these past three weeks with over 125 yards in each game and at least 19 carries in those games. Averaging over 5 yards a carry, Gurley has shown us the reason why he was drafted so high, and was potentially the best running back in that draft. Now this week, he faces a 49ers defense that is not the same defense that has been there the last few years. Decimated by injuries, and departures in free agency as well as retirement, this defense currently 20th against the run and 30th overall. With Gurley hitting his stride and a weak match up, watch him run all over the 49ers.
RB: Chris Ivory, Jets $6,000
Ivory has been one of the best running backs in the league this year with an average of 20 points a game this season. Although he only scored 13 points last week against the Patriots after straining his hamstring I fully expect him to get back into shape this week fully healed against a Raiders defense that allows 84 yards against the run. Head coach Todd Bowles is your typical defensive head coach with a nasty defense and loves to run the football. I think Ivory will get plenty of touches and look to makeup for a poor performance last week.
WR: Martavis Bryant, Steelers $5,300
BIG BEN IS BACK!! With the return of the Steeler's quarterback I think the Steelers offense will explode against a very good Cincinnati team. Although the Bengals defense is playing pretty well, the focus will be on Antonio Brown and not on Bryant leaving him more open for targets and yards. The Steelers defense is just not the usual steel curtain this year and has struggled against good offenses. And here come the Bengals with Dalton and Green playing very very well. I look for this game to be a shootout and for Bryant to get plenty of targets and score some points.
WR: Stefon Diggs, Vikings $4,800
Im officially on the Diggs train with how strong he has come on in the last two weeks. After not playing the first three weeks and a so-so performance against Denver in week 4, Diggs has exploded with two consecutive games over a hundred yards and at least 6 catches in each of the last 3 weeks. Diggs has been targeted 28 times by Teddy Bridgewater over the last three weeks and quickly made a name for himself as his top target. This week the Vikings face a weak Chicago defense that I think could provide plenty of points for Diggs and the rest of the Vikings offense.
WR: Alshon Jeffery, Bears $6,400
The Bears offense relies on all of four players, between Cutler, Martlellus Bennett, Matt Forte, And Jeffery. Although Jeffery has only played in two games this season so far, he's active this week and finally healthy. Last week he torched the lions for 8 catches, 147 yards, and a touchdown for a 31 point explosion. I think there's plenty of holes for Jeffery to exploit on the Vikings this week and as one of the top targets for Cutler he will get plenty of chances.
TE: Tyler Eifert, Bengals $5,300
The Bengals I feel are actually legitimate this year for once and Eifert has been a big reason why. Although he's very hit and miss this season, The Steelers have been ranked 27th against the pass this year and have been gashed by tight ends this season as they don't seem to have anyone who can cover them. This is one pick though I have been unsure about as Antonio Gates is a strong play if healthy or Ladarius Green if he's not.
Flex: Doug Martin, Bucs $5,500
The Muscular Hamster has come on very strong the last three weeks and put up at least 23 points in all three games. Although the Falcons are ranked second against the run, I expect Martin to still get a bunch of carries to try and keep the prolific Falcons offense off the field. Martin has proved to be good even against good defenses showing success a few weeks ago against a very good Panthers' defense. As with all division games you never know, but watch for Martin to continue his stellar play this week.
D/ST: Rams, $3,200
The Rams are again my pick for defense and special teams for almost the same reasons as last week. They are going up against an 49ers offense that has struggled on offense, with a bad offensive line, and Tavon Austin is always a threat in the return game. Watch for the Rams' front seven to feast on the 49ers offensive line and force Kapernick into some serious mistakes.
