This week without even taking a swing Rory McIlroy has taken the No.1 world ranking back from Jordan Spieth. The PGA in general did not have a tournament this week but because of McIlroy's 29th place finish last week he moved up and takes the lead by .023%. That is by far the closest No.1 and No.2 have been in the official rankings since its creating in 1986. What makes it even more exciting is the fact that this week at the BMW Championship McIlroy, Spieth, and Jason Day could all be No.1 with a win.
In my opinion I think Spieth will regain the top spot if only for the fact he has now had a week off to figure out what has gone so wrong for him the past few events. Missing two cuts is not unheard of for golfers, but when someone is having a season like Spieth is you just don't expect it. While Day and McIlroy have been playing well I think they finish in the top 20, but Spieth finishes top 5. The course at Conway Farms should see a great weekend of golf and hopefully we will have an exciting finish and maybe a new No.1 player in the world.
If anything let's hope for some great shots such as these:
